The maths scheme followed is called "Argyll & Bute Maths" (revised by Rothesay Primary School) which is based on the National 5-14 Guidelines covering the following attainment outcomes:
1) Problem Solving & enquiry

2) Information Handling

3) Number, money and measurement

4) Shape, position and movement

Incorporated in these outcomes are such aspects of maths as the processes of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, and their application to the following areas:
whole numbers, decimal and vulgar fractions, money, length, weight, volume, time and pictorial representation. Shape, both two dimensional and three dimensional, is also included in the scheme.
At all times a balance is sought between practical activity and formal work in the programme followed by the children. Mental arithmetic is practised throughout the school on a daily basis.
